In case you didn’t know Utah has MOUNTAINS! I don’t mean hills or little mounds, I mean BIG mountains with substantial elevation. The Wasatch Front is a mountain range that runs across north central Utah. Salt Lake City is at the center but the exact distance that it runs is not always agreed upon. For this coming summer we are going to give you ideas for hikes around the Wasatch Front. There are tons of hikes all over Utah and we have already written about It’s Called Scout Cave down in St. George, but for the next few months we are going to give you over 30 hikes from easy to difficult all along the Wasatch Front. The hikes we are going to highlight are some of our favorites but by no means and end all. So make sure and sign up for our emails by liking this blog in the bottom right corner and you won’t miss out on all our hike updates.
So….. Let’s start with one of our all time favorites that is perfect for the spring because there is no snow and the views are spectacular!! See keep reading for – – – – – – – – – – – – – Bear Canyon Bridge Trail!!!!
Bear Canyon Bridge Trail
Moderate – 4.3 Miles Round Trip – Draper Foothills
There are a few ways to get to the bridge but we are going to start at 11700 South Wasatch Blvd. at the Hidden Valley Park this is just South of a large, white LDS Church. There is a large parking lot but no sign to Bear Canyon Bridge so just head South on the Bonneville Shoreline trail at the back of the parking lot.

This trail does not allow dogs so if you want to bring along your pooch use one of the other entrances which do allow dogs. Map The route we have chosen is a little steep at the first but then smooths out so the majority of the hike is flat.
Perfect for the whole family. The suspension bridge is awesome and massive. It spans 185 feet over Bear Canyon which is far below. It connects the Bonneville Shoreline trail from North to South.
The view is amazing almost the entire hike and there is a fun short rock tunnel the kids will enjoy.
